Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate whether not only the parent-child relations but also the grandparent-child relations affect the educational and occupational success of the child.

In December 2013, the questionnairewas fielded in the LISS panel. For this purpose, a pre-measurement was taken in November 2013 in order to determine which respondents belonged to the target group. In January 2014, the questionnaire was again put to a small group of respondents that were not included in the December selection (unmarried partners of the heads of the households).
