A Study on Underlying Motivation of Emotional Suppression in Immigrants and Mainstreamers in the Netherlands

Single Wave Study

General Information

Title
A Study on Underlying Motivation of Emotional Suppression in Immigrants and Mainstreamers in the Netherlands
Abstract
In August 2013, the questionnaire “not showing emotions” was fielded in the LISS-I panel.

The study is partly qualitative and explorative and as such it contributes to the scarce literature on interethnic differences in underlying motives of suppression of negative emotions and its relationship to background variables and the outcomes (the consequences of emotional suppression and successfulness of emotional suppression).
